Exploration and Play with Songs and Studies for Kids!

A Play-Based Singing Series that Celebrates the Child Singer

The Songs and Studies for Kids! series was created for your youngest singing students who are just beginning their musical journey. At this age, children learn best through exploration, creativity, and play; every activity in this series is designed with play-based learning in mind.

Each level features singing activities that encourage vocal exploration and introduce foundational music concepts, and repertoire specially crafted for young singers to enjoy. Whether you’re teaching a private lesson or a small group, this flexible series gives teachers a wide variety of tools to support early vocal development.

Child-Friendly Vocal Studies

Studies are short activities that allow singers to explore their voice through fun musical exercises and mini-songs.

Solfège Studies (Introductory A & B)

These activities introduce students to Moveable DO solfège. They are perfect for developing pitch accuracy, music reading practice, and creative musical games.

✔ The physical movement of solfège handsigns offers another pathway for memorable connection to the pitches.

✔ The studies are most effective without piano accompaniment so students learn to develop their internal audiation.

How Solfège Studies Work

Students progress through several playful steps:

Warm-ups review familiar patterns.

Melodic patterns are introduced using solfège syllables, with or without hand signs.

The patterns are presented on the music staff to connect what they hear and what they see. Fun lyrics make the music memorable and engaging.

More foundational music activities help students learn to listen carefully, develop coordination, and follow the score.

Vocal Studies (Level One)

In Level One, the studies evolve into vocal games that include solfège, body percussion, articulation, and dynamics. They continue to help singers connect with their bodies as they explore their voices and develop musical technique.

Let’s Look at a Vocal Study

Students explore articulations through reading, writing, and singing.

They apply articulations to a simple, playful melody.

Students get to create their own version, applying the articulations they think are best for the song.

Song Adventures

Song Adventures are the heart of the series—charming, accessible songs that young singers LOVE to perform.

Introductory B and Level One feature lively songs by Australian composer Glyn Lehmann, including the delightful Quokka Smiles and Crocodiles, a tune Australian children will adore.

These original pieces by FULL VOICE composers are written specifically for developing voices.

Singing these easy-to-learn songs helps to prepare young singers for longer and more complex repertoire in the future.

You can preview all the songs on our YouTube playlist.
